Thank you Glenn, I needed that. I enjoy all of the support, moral and mental, that comes along with your weekly newsletter. I moved to the Nashville area from Massachusetts just about 5 years ago and enjoy all that Nashville has to offer. I enjoyed one of your seminars that you held in Holyoke, Massachusetts. It was very good information and I sang your praises and still do. I still use the manual you issued at your seminar.

Little did I know then that our company would close after 71 years in the same location, sell our equipment and become a distribution center. I have been with the company for 42 years so it was a hard transition but an exciting one to staff the facility in Antioch TN with over 200 people. When I moved here there was nothing in the building but bugs (dead ones) and dust.

Now that the dust has settled, we are up, running and holding our own in this economy. Even in a tough economy everyone is very giving during a tornado, flood and other times as well.

Glenn you are appreciated as well. I wish you continued success.

Not only do I believe your article was worth the two minutes it took to read, but the 3 or 4 it will take me to comment.

You are right about the value of time. I spend my days, as HR Director, watching the criminal waste of valuable time around the office. The gossiping, rumor-mongering, fooling around and excuses for mistakes made. On the other hand, and in fairness, I also watch at least one employee who double tasks by singing while she works. For her first few weeks here, it really annoyed me. Now I find that her singing (she makes everything into some song or other) actually lightens the load and makes the time more enoyable while performing otherwise mundane tasks. And it wastes no time. She is just as productive while she sings as while she doesn’t and I have, on more than one occasion, found myself humming along with her. It gives time a little more value and makes the work much more pleasurable – even if her tonolgy leaves much to be desired.

Through this I have learned that time is like ice cream. You have to make the most of it before it melts away and it’s much better with just a little chocolate sauce of singing. Maybe if we all did just a little more singing while we work – quietly, of course – the passing of time wouldn’t pressure us quite so badly and the problems of the day would take on a more palatable opportunity.

On Mondays I greet several of our employees with the phrase “This is the first of five days of opportunity!” By Thursday I’m saying “Only one (or two) days of opportunity remaining this week!” On Friday I say “Good time to start planning next week’s opportunities!” A couple of the employees have picked up on it and greet me before I speak to them with the same phrases. While they may not really believe it, maybe in time they will and it sure makes Mondays a whole lot better – oh, that AND the singing!

Glenn,

I just wanted to share with you that I was so proud to be a part of an organization called the AAPC. American Academy of Professional Coders. I am President Elect for the Kansas City Local Chapter. Our annual national meeting was scheduled to be at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Unfortunately, due to flooding – we had to move our conference to Jacksonville Florida. Our hearts went out to your city. At our National meeting we just wanted to do something for you. We raised $10,600, and presented a check to a member of the Nashville Red Cross at our closing banquet.

Everyone leaped to their feet and cheered!! It was so awesome, it gave me chills. We wish you all the best as your city recovers and rebuilds!

Sincerely,

Pam Warman, CPC

Glenn,

Thank you! It was nice to hear those words (You are appreciated). My first interaction with you was through one of your seminars. I was a manager at the time for a small business with many problems from all spectrums of the business. I loved the business in which I managed with such passion!

Much has changed since that time. In November 2007 the business sold and my position was eliminated. However, I remained getting your supporting and encouraging words that I applied to better myself and others. On March 23, 2009, I recieved a phone call from the franchise owners. Store had been abandoned and I was asked if I would consider taking over the store operations. My dream was to become reality! I was blessed to contact all of my enthusiastic employees from prior and bring in some of my family.

Your message is posted for all to see every week. We learn and get inspired! We are thriving as a business and working wonderfully as a team.

THANK YOU!

May you be blessed with grace.

I cannot tell you how timely this message was. I just gave a “Written” (and verbal) warning to my employee after everyone else in the dept has blown their top over her. She, of course, had an explanation, I felt guilty. None the less. It was a life and death matter and I kept thinking of how you would handle it and DID NOT CAVE IN!!

She is personnable, but her work ethics STINK!!

So I’ll let her go to save the life of my dept. and possiblby the lives of patients.
