Saturday, October 31st, 2009Why Won’t Anyone Take My Money?
Friday, October 30th, 2009Here’s a follow up on my story on the 8 of 9 realtors who never followed up with my beautiful bride and I, even though we told them what we wanted in a house, and that there are no contingencies when we make an offer.
I also need to buy a new mini van for work, and have narrowed it down to Toyota Sienna. Yet despite giving the Toyota salesman my phone number and asking him to call me when he found one in the color I want (three weeks ago), I haven’t heard from him.
“My mini-backbone is starting to grow!”

I wanted to thank you for the seminar yesterday in Waukesha, WI. You have truely inspired me, coming from the Generation Y, and being a new manager that has the pressure of her “mom,” as she is the owner of the company I work for. I learned a lot from your seminar yesterday and I think that my mini-backbone is starting to grow!
Once again thank you for a fabulous seminar! Well worth it!!!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009A Love Letter to My Beautiful Bride
Monday, October 26th, 2009To My Beautiful Bride,
Just in case I haven’t articulated this well enough, I want you to know that when I say my prayers at night, the first thing I do is thank God for all that He’s given me, starting with you. Then I ask Him to bless and watch over you.
When I look into your eyes, I can’t believe you married me, and what a lucky man I am.
Sometime this weekend, you were standing in front of the dining room table, and our eyes locked for a minute, and I felt like I was staring and glaring, and wondered if you noticed. I was having that thought.
When you made the comment to the realtor Saturday about wanting to make sure our new house isn’t so big that you need an intercom system to find your husband, I realized how much I would hate that too.
No matter how big my library/study becomes, I always want to feel near you.
Today as I was driving through Chicago, I heard this Journey song on the radio, and it summed up what I feel today:
“Highway run, into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You’re on my mind.
Restless hearts sleep alone tonight,
Sending all my love along the wire.
Through space and time
Always another show,
Wondering where I am lost without you.
And being a part ain’t easy on this love affair ,
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy of rediscovering you .
Oh girl
you stand by me
I’m forever yours
Faithfully.”
I can’t wait to see you on Friday.

When the Saints Go Marching In
Sunday, October 25th, 2009As much as I hate the fact that my hometown team, the Tennessee Titans, are 0-6 (and that the Indianapolis Colts are 7-0), I’m happy that the New Orleans Saints are 7-0. We heard all kinds of great stories about Drew Brees (their quarterback) when we were there last week, and it goes to prove that sometimes, good guys DO finish first.
(Okay, I admit it. Peyton Manning is a good guy too. But New Orleans has to be the sentimental favorite to go to the Superbowl. I just wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the French Quarter if they win.)
How to Tell If Your Kids are “Sexting”
Saturday, October 24th, 2009Two Special Belated Birthday Wishes
Friday, October 23rd, 2009I asked Rebecca to post these last two because one of my first from Saudi Arabia, and the other is from Jolinda Schreiber. Jolinda’s daughter, Kelley Schreiber of Minneapolis, was one of the five people I took on to coach through the interview and hiring process to land the job of a lifetime. She followed m y direction to the letter, shot a video resume of her self, and miraculously (by the hand of God, to be exact), she DID land the job of a lifetime, on the other side of the world.

Hi Glenn!
Here’s a belated Birthday wish! Not as fun as the “on your exact birthday greeting” but nonetheless — a warm and sincere wish for another exciting and profitable year a head of you.
Sounds like your birthday was awesome and enjoyable! A “me day” eh?
Loved your story about birthdays — and the importance of noting your employees’ days as well… Thanks!
We have been associated with Chauncey Hutter, Dan Kennedy, Nate Hagerty and Ralf Renberg… perhaps you worked with some of these guys when you were attending Dan Kennedy’s seminars. We feel blessed to have made a contact with you — and hoping you will continue your approach in working with, educating and helping the small business owner.
Sorry we missed your last trip to Austin, MN. We were not able to make it.
Much happiness, success AND blessings to you in the year to come.
Warmest Regards AND again… happy belated birthday!

Birthday Photos from New Orleans
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009- The French Quarter wasn’t hit by Hurricane Katrina, and remains the same as always.
- The architecture is timeless.
- Even though my hometown of Nashville, Tennessee is called Music City, the musicians on the sidewalks of Nashville are all just one guy with a guitar. In New Orleans, they have complete jazz bands everywhere, which literally get people dancing in the streets.
- Being the history buff that I am, we had to go through the old U.S. Mint. This is a hand written work manifest from 1861, documenting their production.
- Speaking of taking care of business, this is Creole Delicacies on Jackson Square, home of the world’s best pralines. That’s owner Lisette Sutton on the left, and her 88-year-old employee Rose on the right (Rose was kind of sweet on me.) Lisette’s home survived Katrina, but her business was completely looted. But not even a hurricane can keep a strong woman down, and she came back better than ever. You can visit Lisette’s website at www.cookincajun.com or call them at 1-800-786-0941. Be sure to tell her Glenn Shepard sent you.
- My beautiful bride and I at Brennan’s, where Bananas Foster was invented.
- Not only do they have the best dessert, but they also know how to make birthdays fun.
- And speaking of fun and birthdays, thanks to everyone who sent M&M’s. Misty Gilbert in Dallas, Texas, had special M&M’s printed up in “Work Is Not for Sissies” colors, and even sent a gumball type dispenser.
