Oh Canada!

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I love hockey, and wore my Nashville Predators jersey and cheered when Team USA scored a goal to tie the Olympic hockey game for the gold with only seconds left in regulation play, and was devastated when we lost to Team Canada in overtime. I was hoping for a repeat of the 1980 Miracle on Ice, when Team USA beat the Russian national hockey team for the gold medal. But the reality is that Canada is more fanatical about hockey than Americans are about baseball, and it just seems right that they should win the gold medal when the Olympics are in Canada.

So for all my friends, colleagues, and clients in Ottawa, Quebec, B.C., Alberta, New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan – and I have a lot in each – Congratulations! You guys deserved this one. (And if my friend Peggy McColl reads this, we’re taking you up on your promise to take us to an Ottawa Senators game. :)

Is Someone Secretly Recording What You Do on Your Computer?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

The software is called a “Key Logger”, because it secretly records all your keystrokes and sends them to someone else. To find out if someone is watching you, you need a key logger detector.  To download one for free (it’s safe, because Kim Komando recommends it), click here:  http://tinyurl.com/glennshepard17

What the 99% of the Time that I Fail Looks Like

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

If there’s one thing that makes all the difference between small business owners who succeed, and those who fail, it’s marketing. While most of my customers have seen the marketing that works, what most people will never see is 99% of our marketing efforts that fail. This is one of them. It’s a mailer promoting our Give Me My Money, Please! program to car dealers. Instead of using envelopes, we used moneybags. It was an incredibly expensive and difficult mailing to do, but I though it was brilliant. WRONG! It was a total failure.

Dear Lord, Please Don’t Let It Snow in Orlando

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Last week we had to reschedule a seminar because of snow, for the first time in nearly seven years. We typically schedule all my programs in the south during the winter, to avoid this. But who would have ever imagined that they’d get six inches in South Alabama. Tomorrow, I head to Orlando, where we have an SRO (standing room only) crowd. Surely, Central Florida has to be a safe bet in February. . .

Tiger Woods

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I understand that his “public apology” was supposedly part of the treatment for his so called sex addiction, but I’m not buying it. Heroin is addictive. Cheating on your wife is a character issue.

Do Dogs Have ESP?

Although he loves to ride, this is Brady trying to hide so he wouldn’t have to go on the trip he was about to go on – which was to get neutered. Think he knew???

The First Time Ever that Brady Didn't Want to Go for a Ride

Taking Care of Business

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

One of my Gold Inner Circle members who owns two dry cleaning stores in Wisconsin told me today that he spent $250 to send out 650 Valentine’s Day postcards, and it already brought in $2000 in new business this month. This is the same member that brought in $4,000 in new business last November after using an outrageous hand written direct mail letter. He’s going to be the Ray Croc (the man that made McDonald’s so successful) of the dry cleaning business, and this is how it happens.

Small business owners that build their businesses little by little and pull themselves up by the bootstraps are what make America great, create the most jobs, and what will bring our economy back.
