Glenn you have been a very good instructer for me. Problem on my end is the Asst Director does not let me fly.

  2. Gail Reese says:

Great analogy, Glenn. For years, my family raised and showed Quarter Horses, and like the flying instructor, I had to let go of the reins and let my children ride without assistance. I remember the butterflies I had for the first moments after I let go and they were on their own, but the best part was seeing them exceed my expectations. It is no different for employees. They will succeed if we, as managers, have provided them with the foundation to stand alone. If they don’t succeed, it very well may be they didn’t fail, but the manager failed.

  3. Jill says:

Well said Glenn. Letting go can be a tough business all of it’s own. However when we do with the right people, the sky can be the limit.

    Thanks for the reminder,
    Jill
